Italian Draughts
Italy
Known for its unique 'respect' rule: an ordinary man may never capture a king. The board is also placed with the dark corner square on the right, unlike most variants.

Note: a few tournament subtleties (draw rules, rare priority cases) are simplified in this online version.
Rules
- Men capture forward only and can never take a king.
- Kings do not fly; they move one square at a time.
- Capturing is compulsory with strict priorities: more pieces > capturing with a king > capturing kings.
- The board is set up in a rotated orientation.
About the game
Codified in Italy since the 16th century, its 'a man may not capture a king' rule creates unique defensive strategy: kings can shelter where enemy men are helpless against them.
